The Sierra Club is a national organization dedicated to Enjoying, Exploring and Protecting the Planet. Founded by legendary conservationist John Muir in 1892, it is now the nation's largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization -- with more than two million members and supporters. Our successes range from protecting millions of acres of wilderness to helping pass the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act.

Join the Broward Sierra Group for an relaxed paddle on the Middle River! The Middle River surrounds almost the entire city of Wilton Manors, which led to the nickname, Island City. The river approximately 7-mile loop originating at the lntercoastal Waterway. The eastern edge of the river is just under one mile from the Atlantic Ocean and less than five miles from Port Everglades. Paddle through unique urban environment for some wildlife viewing and sightseeing. Expect to be out for about two hours on the water. Along with learning about the local history and seeing wildlife, we will make several stops throughout the tour to allow for water breaks. Hang out after for a group lunch hang at the park.
For those with their own vessels, please meet at 9:30am at Colohatchee Park, to launch and head over to our paddlers who will rent. Those who need to rent their own vessel will go to Sunrise Paddleboards and rent with the outfitter. Please try to arrive early, as parking fills up fast on weekends.

Sun Protective Clothing (ie. Hats & Sun Shirts)
Water Shoes or Waterproof Sandals
Waterproof bags and phone cases
Water Safety Vest (if bringing own vessel)

The Rotary Club of Hollywood will be presented buy two incredible leaders. Rachael Markovic, Chair and Eamon Toner, past Chair.
- Eamon Toner was born in Ireland and is a local contractor, he is married to Raquel Toner and has 2 children. He is involved in his community Politically and civically. He is the past President of Rotary Club of Hollywood, presently a District Board member and head of Rotary Committees driving innovation.
- Rachael Markovic is a dedicated community organizer, administrative professional, and the Chair of the Rotary Impact Club of Hollywood. With a strong background in event planning, volunteer coordination, and nonprofit service, Rachael leads a variety of hands-on projects that focus on youth engagement, environmental action, and community development. Her leadership within Rotary reflects a passion for service, sustainability, and creating lasting change. Today, she joins us to share how Rotary Clubs across Broward are driving local impact through collaboration, environmental stewardship, and grassroots outreach.
