Ahhhh… fall at last. The leaves have dropped, the air has that unmistakable crispness, and we feel the shift into reflection and renewal.
As the season turns, let’s gather once again for a meaningful and lively conversation in the Sjostrom Family History Lounge — right beside the vault that holds so many stories of those who came before us.

This Month’s Topic:

We’ll be exploring how our ancestors — and those who’ve gone before — continue to live on through our choices, our memories, and the ways we honor them. And, as always, the conversation may take us to unexpected and wonderful places.

Our discussion will be guided by Karen Keeran, a death doula and facilitator of the Golden Death Café. Karen brings warmth, insight, and a remarkable ability to help people talk openly about life, death, and everything in between. You won’t want to miss joining her at the table.

Part of what we do in Cafe Immortelle is hold space for the weight of death — the way it shapes how we live and influences every other change we experience. Does it feel so heavy that we try not to think about it? Or does it feel so distant that it barely seems to matter? There’s no right or wrong answer here. This is simply a space to explore how each of us understands and approaches death — in our families, in our culture, and within ourselves — and how becoming more intentional about that might open new ways of living and connecting.

This conversation is a natural continuation of where we left off in September, when we talked about the transitions in life that have taught us the most about impermanence.
