Cambridge Film Forum: September 2025 – The Roses

Hello, Cambridge film lovers!

For our September forum, we will be discussing The Roses. This dark comedy stars Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch as an embattled married couple whose picture-perfect life is marred by mutual resentment and competition.

Based on Warren Adler's novel The War of the Roses, this adaptation is written by two-time Oscar nominee Tony McNamara (The Favourite, Poor Things) and directed by Jay Roach (Austin Powers, Trumbo).

The film is released in cinemas on 29 August and is set to be showing at the Light and the Picturehouse, but please check your local cinema listings to find a screening in preparation for this event.
