Hello Kinder and Gentler Soccer Comrades!. Spring is finally here and we will continue our "kinder and gentler" kickabout this Sunday, May 18, at 10:00 AM - Please read ALL of the information below; there are periodic updates.

Note 4: As of now, the weather service is predicting partially cloudy good weather with the temperature being in the low 60's° Fahrenheit.
We play in BELMONT on the *BELMONT TOWN FIELD (*aka the KENDALL Field). It is located at approximately 178 Waverly St., Belmont (park on the other side, on Beech St.)
PLEASE READ ALL IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT GAME.
(1) • SAFETY & RULES
- (a) ETHOS. This is the "kinder and gentler" friendly, coed, multigenerational pickup game that nobody should get too serious about; we want to avoid any injuries. So for instance there should be no slide tackling, and no intentional fouling. Nonetheless, it is recommended that all players wear shin guards.
- (b) RECOMMENDED AGE GUIDELINES: Men and women aged at least 18 are welcome to play but it is important to remember this game is intended to be a "kinder and gentler" friendly game that can accommodate players into their late 60s. So if you are very competitive and have talent, there are other game around where you will fit in better. However, if you have little soccer experience and not too much pent up aggression, this might be a comfortable fit. Most of the time we have women playing with us, but we are eager to have a higher proportion play regularly.
- (c) EYEWEAR. It is highly recommended that anybody who is playing with glasses use SHATTERPROOF sports glasses rather than regular civilian glasses or contact lenses.
- (d) SOCCER CLEATS FOR GRASS. It is strongly recommended that players wear proper soccer cleats when playing on grass. This is for the protection of all players — so that they not slip and injure themselves or others.
- (e) SHIN GUARDS. It is highly recommended that all players wear shin guards, despite the fact that this is intended to be a "kinder and gentler" game.
- (f) VACCINATION REQUIREMENT. PLEASE DO NOT COME UNLESS YOU ARE FULLY VACCINATED (and boosted) AGAINST COVID-19 or any other highly contagious disease (like measles) and YOU ARE NOT EXPERIENCING ANY SYMPTOMS OF IT!
(2) • LOCATION: This week we will play in Belmont, on the BELMONT TOWN FIELD (also called the KENDALL Field). It is located at approximately 178 Waverly St., Belmont. However there is no parking on Waverly St., so park on the other side, on Beech St.
(3) • TIMELINESS: Please do your best to be PUNCTUAL!
(4) • UNIFORMS. Each player should bring a WHITE shirt AND a BLACK (or DARK BLUE) shirt and be prepared to switch from one to the other so as to make team formation easy. !!!! Please do NOT to wear shirts or hoodies that have stripes or are gray, red, yellow, orange, green, light blue, pink, etc.
(5) • HYDRATION. It will be hot, so everybody should bring some water or something to drink !!!!!!
(6) • BRING ICE PACKS!! Everybody who has a car and can easily bring one is encouraged to bring an emergency instant cold pack/ice pack! Then if someone gets injured the injured person can get immediate treatment.
(7) • MINIMUM (8) AND MAXIMUM NUMBERS (14). We need at least eight (8) people to sign up. Usually we have more. We don’t want to exceed a total of fourteen (14) players. This is meant to be a SMALL to MEDIUM sized game.
(8) • CHANGE OF PLANS. If you sign up, then please come, unless you are not qualified on health grounds (see SAFETY above). If you change your plans, please indicate the change ASAP on our meetup website.
(9) DON'T JUST SHOW UP. Do NOT come if you have not signed up, unless you are #1 or #2 on the waiting list or have been authorized by the organizer..

Each participant in our game should contribute $10 in CASH once per calendar year to cover the costs of our advertising on meetup.com. So, even if you have not paid up for 2024 and/or 2025, please do so when next you get a chance. *Also, after rendering payment, please email shopenhauer@Mentis.us , so that I can enter it into the ledger, as I will otherwise not remember. **Do NOT pay through the link that says "***Fundraising". It has NOT been authorized.***

(13) WAIVER. All participants assume the risk of injury and waive any claims against the game organizers, and will defend, hold harmless and indemnify the organizers against any claims from any person participating in this activity.
