What weāre about
Meetup likes you to be very open and clear about what a group is about: I am trying to start regular whisky tasting events around Cambridge, so I'd like to use this group to collect people interested in learning more about whisky and trying more whiskies.
Initially, I'll be advertising tasting events I am a part of in the city. And meetup will be just one way I do that, so numbers on here might not be representative of actual attendees expected. Once there's a big enough base here, I hope to be able to run events more regularly and possibly start a full whisky club in Cambridge.
So if you want to meet new people and expand your whisky horizons then this is the group for you! Some events will be ticketed, but all are open to everyone (over 18 of course) whether you're a member of this group or not, whether you think you know all you need to about whisky or have never tried it before, whether you're shy and want to listen or the life of a party and want to openly discuss.
For more of a look at the events and my whisky related info check out my Linktree. My insta, my mailing list and a few other things are there.
About me:
My philosophy with whisky is that there's no wrong way to enjoy it. Neat, with water, with ice, blended, smokey, sweet, from Scotland or Japan or Mexico! Everyone should be able to enjoy tasting what they taste and smelling what they smell in whatever way they choose.
I've been hosting whisky tastings in Cambridge for nearly 4 years. Mostly this has been as a part of the Cambridge University Whisky Appreciation Society, but in the last year I have branched out to reach a wider audience to share this wonderful spirit with. After studying in Scotland and continuing to explore the world of whisky in the 7 years since, from Cambridge, I really enjoy sharing what I've learned with others and find that there's always more whisky to try.
PLEASE NOTE:
An advanced ticket is required to attend this event. Tickets can be purchased here: TICKET LINK
Attendance on meetup does not equate to a ticket, or necessarily reflect total numbers as the event is advertised in other ways too.
Can you think of a better way to spend the August Bank Holiday Sunday afternoon than with whisky & ice cream?

A twist on our usual guided tasting events, this time we'll be selecting 4 fantastic flavours from Jack's Gelato to pair with the 4 whiskies we've chosen. There's a lot to think about when pairing foods with whisky, so what will you be looking out for? Contrasting or complementing flavours. Different temperatures and textures change the experience. Plus, it's the start of Thirsty's 10th Birthday week š.

What is Cambridge Whisky Club?
Launched in March 2025, it's a rebranding of the events that were being organised around the city under the name of Elliott Drinks Whisky. With the name (and logo) comes an optional membership scheme. When you buy a 1 year membership, you get 10% discount on all the events we host at our HQ at Thirsty and at least 10% off whisky at the bar there too, amongst other things.
The club will likely eventually take over from this group, so do sign up for our mailing list or Instagram if you want to stay connected. To learn more, head to the Cambridge Whisky Club website.
What is a guided whisky tasting?
All are welcome to attend the event, whether you consider yourself a whisky expert or havenāt explored it at all. The evening will start with an introduction to the event and the first whisky, explaining a bit about why Iāve chosen it. Weāll share some nosing and tasting notes and then Iāll let you enjoy the whisky with your friends and fellow guests. After a short while this process will repeat for each of the remaining whiskies.
Iāll be happy to try and answer any questions about the whiskies, the process of making them and the industry at any point. These events are a great opportunity to try some whisky you probably canāt try in a bar, without buying a whole bottle!
