Camping at Inskip Point

Lets get away and camp for a couple of days at Inskip Point. It is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the kilometers of unspoilt, beautiful, white sandy beaches (just opposite to Fraser Island) where you can swim, fish, walk or just relax by the campfire.

Getting there: Inskip Point is 250km (or 3.30hrs) north of Brisbane past Gympie. Please see below link for directions.

Campground and campsites are best accessed by 4WD vehicles. Under normal conditions, has limited 2WD-suitable camp sites near the entrance.
Campsite Booking: There are 5 campgrounds at Inskip Point and we will camp at SS Dorrigo Campground. You can book your spot ($6.30/day) from below online link after logging. Select ‘Inskip Peninsula Recreation Area’ and the date. There is no campground name or site number to select, you can camp anywhere, any campground. Booking can also be made by ringing 13 74 68 any hour of the day (24/7). There are 2,300 spots at Inskip Point’s 5 campgrounds.
Note: There is no group booking or area reserved for our group. You need to book your own site.

Campground Facilities: campground have composting toilets but no showers or water tap.

Essentials to bring: Water for drinking, washing, shower etc, gas stove, insect repellent, wet weather camping gear, snack/food for your stay, your medicine, first-aid kit, camera, torch, walking shoes, firewood, relaxing and a happy attitude.
Activities: relaxing, fishing, swimming, beach walk, kayaking, bird watching etc. We can do a bush walk at Carlo Sand Blow near Rainbow Beach at the top of Cooloola Drive. We would carpool to go there which is about 30km. The Blow is an easy 600m walk from the car park with views of the Coloured Sands and Double Island Point.
Happy hour: It’s every hour of the day but we would meet in the evening somewhere central or at the beach over the drinks. Please bring some nibbles and stories to share.
