The Flour / Flower City may be home, but how much do you know about our forebears? In this second class of a two-part survey course, students will encounter the triumphs and trials Rochester experienced in an age of industrialization, consumerism, and globalization – the growth of the powerful industries and unions, increasing diversity, redlining and suburbanization, racial unrest, along with Urban Renewal and New Urbanism – setting the pattern of comforts and challenges our city experiences in the present day.
