What we’re about

Have fun and keep fit while you are enjoying traditional Australian dancing with a friendly mob of welcoming people. We have weekly workshops where you will learn bush dances immediately by walking through with a caller then dancing to a live band. We also hold a number of annual balls and you will be ready for dressing up in your glad rags and attending those as well. No previous experience or partner needed. Acoustic musicians also welcome.

Hi folks

A dance event that will teach you bush dancing, while providing a lively evening of dance.

Starting Monday March 3 and then every Monday (except for ACT public holidays) to the end of November. Doors open from 6pm, dancing from 6.15pm.

Don't be shy about coming and having a go - the dancing is quite easy and the dancers are very friendly and welcoming. You don't need to come with a partner or have any experience as all moves are taught, then danced and called so you will be reminded as you go.

Just wear comfortable clothes, nothing fancy. Layers work well as you may warm up during the dancing. Bring a pair of flat or sooth soled shoes (nothing grippy, as you'll need to be able to slide your feet) to change into on arrival - we dance on a polished wood floor and need to protect the surface.

Cost: $5 if you identify yourself as a Meetup member - pay by cash or by debit/credit card.

Join us at a bush dance run by the Monaro Folk Society. No experience needed as all dances are walked through and called. No partner necessary, but do bring them if you have one! Bring flat soled shoes to change into to help look after the beautiful polished wooden floor. Wear layered clothing as you will warm up once you get dancing.
