Smokers Trail and Square Rock

Details
A walk in mixed eucalypt forest at the north of Namadgi NP on a combination of walking track and management roads. This walk will begin on Smokers Trail, then take the Link Track to pick up the Square Rock Walking Track. If the Orroral Valley Lookout track segment has been re-opened, we will head up to the lookout for its views along the valley, then walk to Square Rock itself. There will be a snack break there, and time to explore the rock and enjoy the views before returning along the Square Rock Walking Track to the car park.
There is a description of this walk on the Parks ACT website (https://www.parks.act.gov.au/search?query=square+rock+walking+track+brochure). This walk is about 15 km long with 550 m of climb. It is a Grade 3 walk (https://www.aussiebushwalking.com/grading).
We will meet at the Square Rock Walk car park, also called the Corin Hub car park or the Smokers Gap car park. Once you pass the Corin Forest Mountain Retreat/Recreation area car park on the right, the entrance to the Square Rock Walk car park is another 500m on the left.
Four places on this walk will be reserved for first time walkers. Note, though, that these places will not be available to a guest of a first time walker. If you are a first time walker, and RSVP with a guest, you do so knowing that your guest may not get a place on the going list.
NB: Those participating in the walk are responsible for their own safety and well being, should be adequately prepared, have appropriate clothing and have sufficient food and water for their individual needs.
