Paint Out: Middle Lake - Bow Valley Provincial Park

Banff and Kananaskis both promise to be jammed this weekend. So, I am hoping, particularly given our last paint out experience, that Bow Valley Park will offer both available parking and a little reprieve from the crowds. The earlier start time should help as well!

I have not yet painted at this location but it looks intriguing. We had a great time at nearby Whitefish last year. So, I am hoping it's a good one :)

To get to the site, exit highway 1 onto highway 1X N and turn left into Bow Valley Park. Go past the first day use area. Middle Lake is next on the left, before the fork in the road going to the campground and the Many Springs and Whitefish Day Use Areas.

There are washrooms at the site. There is some shade cover as well. That said, there is less shade available than in some of the other paint out locations. If you have one, it might not be a bad idea to bring a long a plein air umbrella. That said, the temperatures are supposed to remain cooler so I don't think we will mind being in a more open location.

As usual, please expect the unexpected in terms of weather and bring all your own art supplies.
