This dynamic, hour-long adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy brings a fresh, powerful perspective, weaving a poignant tale of family, power, and love through an all-female cast.
Adapted by Karl Sikkenga, Kate Bennis, and Miller Murray Susen, and directed with bold vision by Miller Murray Susen, Queen Lear retains Shakespeare’s poetic brilliance while focusing on resonant themes: the complex bonds between a mother and her daughters, the challenges of generational wealth, the realities of aging in a female body, the blind spots of privilege, and the deep loyalty and love within chosen and blood families.
Be mesmerized by six stellar actors—Kate Bennis, Kara McLane Burke, Claire Chandler, Sian Richards, Katie Rogers, and Miller Murray Susen—masterfully playing multiple roles with captivating ensemble work. Original music by Anya Movius sets an evocative tone, while Camilyn Leone’s striking costumes and Lisa Bowers’ expert production create a visual and emotional masterpiece.
