We had another great turnout and a blast when the Rocket Blasters last rocked The Bar in Boalsburg.

Centre Daily Hikers Nash and Martin are the lead and bass guitarists, respectively, of this local musical band. Nash originally hails from Seattle, Washington and Martin from Manchester, England.

From the band's FB page:

"The Rocket Blasters debuted in May 2022 as a guitar and drums driven classic/modern Top-40 Rock band playing the hits from the late 1960s to today. Our style and sound has been described as power cord driven Rock, Pop and Glam. The current band line-up, together since January 2023, includes a lead vocalist - Stefanie Daratany (New York City), guitar - Nash Turley (Seattle, WA), bass - Martin Sheridan (Manchester, England) and drums - Bernie Oravec (Johnstown, PA). All members provide vocals.

"The Rocket Blasters perform shows throughout Central Pennsylvania, from Johnstown, Altoona, Huntingdon and Clearfield, to State College, Lock Haven, Lewistown and everywhere in-between."

The Rocket Blasters will be ripping the roof off The Bar on 306 Boal Avenue (Rte. 322) in Boalsburg this coming Friday, Sept. 12, from 9-11 p.m. We will start gathering at 8 p.m. so that we can hang out, gab, and gossip before the band begins.

NOTE: The band will be collecting donations on behalf of the Jamaican Red Cross for hurricane relief. Hurricane Melissa has just caused catastrophic damage in Jamaica. As of this writing, the death toll stands at 28.

The venue known simply as The Bar calls itself as a "dive bar," while one reviewer at Yelp describes it as "our local 'Cheers,'" and another at MapQuest as a spot that "offers a casual and welcoming atmosphere for patrons to enjoy drinks and socialize."

The Bar is easy to find: right next door to Kelly's Steak & Seafood, which has a large and conspicuous statue of a steer posing on its roof.
