Little Bald Knob/Buck Mtn Shuttle Hike
Details
Shuttle hike ascending from Camp Todd to Little Bald Knob (4351') on the Wild Oak Trail, then taking a closed Forest Service Road to the Buck Mountain Trail, which drops us to a second vehicle off Tillman Road. This route is about 11.6 miles long with a 1700 foot elevation gain over the first 3 miles - definitely a tough hike. The shuttle takes about 25 minutes.
This hike is in the George Washington National Forest north of Braley Pond, south of Reddish Knob, and northwest of Staunton and Churchville. Parts of the hike will traverse though the Little River Proposed Wilderness Area.
Depending on participation, the group can meet in Charlottesville, Afton, Staunton, or Churchville. Limited to 10 hikers. Details emailed to attendees after RSVPs close. Snow or other weather will postpone this event at the hike leader's discretion.
