CVS Gathering Thoughts: Session 15: Vegan Myths Busted!
Saturday 28th April at 5.30pm Room 10, Phillipstown Community Hub, 39 Nursery Road, Christchurch
TOPIC: ‘Vegan Myths Busted!’
SPEAKER: Mohini Vidwans has encountered various ‘myths’ about vegan choices and is aware of the huge importance of having clear, effective ways to communicate to have productive conservations. She has developed an interactive workshop inspired by Ed Winters’ book ‘30 non-vegan excuses and how to respond to them’ to help people advocate for their vegan life choice in an informed manner.
A BLURB FROM OUR SPEAKER;
My Motivation for developing a Vegan Myth Busting workshop.
Not long after I went vegan, I was chatting to someone about veganism and they said, “plants feel pain too”. In that moment I had no idea what to say and couldn’t explain why they were wrong. There are several arguments that people use to justify eating, wearing and exploiting animals, one of the most common (and selfish) ones is – where do you get your protein from? As frustrating as these conversations can be, it is hugely important to communicate effectively if we want to have productive conversations which benefit the animals. Reading Ed Winters’ (Earthling Ed) book ‘30 non-vegan excuses and how to respond to them’, inspired me to do an interactive workshop—hope this will help you advocate your life choice in an informed manner.
