See all- River Day at Indian Ridge MarshIndian Ridge Marsh, Chicago, IL
The Indian Ridge Marsh (IRM) needs our help! Join us as we partner with Wetlands Initiative and Chicago Park District to do our part in a city-wide event called River Day in which we collectively work to restore our city's rivers and wetlands. At IRM, we will be planting plugs, clearing invasives, and removing trash.
Registration Link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/chicago-river-day-2025-indian-ridge-marsh-tickets-1274033341019?aff=oddtdtcreator (volunteers must register individually). If registration is full prior to May 10th, volunteers can still attend - they will register separately on the day of.
Parking: Volunteers should park along 116th Street and walk south towards the Torrence Avenue parking lot (https://maps.app.goo.gl/svGB4NrHNoATjbg6A). Volunteers will gather in the parking lot before walking together towards planting areas.
Important to Know: This is an outdoor event - please dress for the outdoors/weather (hat, long pants, closed toe work shoes or boots). Volunteers will assist in the planting of small native plant plugs using trowels, which will require bending, crouching, and digging. Site conditions will likely be muddy but easily accessible from the main walking trail. Gloves and planting tools, as well as water and snacks, will be provided. There are port-a-johns available in the Torrence Avenue parking lot and along 116th street.
