Hybrid Field Event for Mapping for Equity Series

Details

Help us create open data and learn how to map our public spaces. This is the second session presented by John Ellis about Mapping for Equity (M4E), a process developed by fellow Alliance of Civic Technologist organization, BetaNYC, to encourage the public to see data while collecting information on their community's under-mapped and under-represented public spaces. This is a hybrid session hosted by John Ellis from Greensboro's Glenn McNairy Branch Library. But can be accessed virtually at https://dartmouth.zoom.us/j/98730960055?pwd=iyrAL9TaxyvefzXgszEO6NP7BymO3D.1

This field event session introduces field mapping techniques, including how to collect and validate real-world data. In-person participants will be encouraged to practice field techniques in the area around the library while participants from other areas of the Carolinas will be supported in their own small-scale data collection.

John will also be hosting weekly virtual office hours to help with ideas for data collection in your specific community and your ongoing mapping. We hope to all leave this session having engaged in an exciting exploratory process to identify opportunities for community impact!
