Led by a native speaker from the United States of America who has also lived in Japan, Belgium and now France, it will be a fun and relaxing time of practicing English. All levels are welcome. What is Cultural Fusion?
We are a group that focuses on: 1) cultural, linguistic and personal development, 2) support for refugees and immigrants, 3) social and professional networking, 4) volunteer opportunities and connection with over 30 associations in the city, and 5) historical visits to Lyon and other European cities. We are glad you are here! Leaders' Background: Fábio and Johnna have lived in Brazil, the U.S., Canada, Spain, Japan, Belgium, and now France. Fábio has Italian and Portuguese roots and Johnna is a pretty typical American with a mix of European roots from a few generations ago (British, French, Belgian, German). They love to meet new people, drink good coffee, try new food and talk about travel, movies, philosophy, history, psychology and languages. Come to one of our events and be part of what happens naturally in these spaces - a fusion of cultures and interests!
We have been running Meetup groups for over 15 years in Florida, Japan and now France. Some of the groups in Florida and Japan are still happening!

On Saturday, August 23rd (FORMERLY AUGUST 9TH... SORRY FOR THE SCHEDULE CHANGE!), we will have representatives from ADO talking to us for about 15 minutes before we break into small groups. ADO stands for "Les Ailes de Demain" (Wings of Tomorrow). It's an association that is actively involved in Erasmus+ projects, focusing on the empowerment and mobility of young adults and young professionals, and intercultural exchange.
**INSTAGRAM FOR ADO: https://www.instagram.com/ado_lyon_eu/**Come and speak English in small groups of about 6-8 people. We have volunteers from all different backgrounds running the events. I send them questions ahead of time. It's a casual way to practice English, meet people and make social and professional connections. We hope to see you there!
COST FOR ALL OUR EVENTS:
We offer over 130 events per year, access to over 8 WhatsApp groups, volunteer opportunities and links with 30+ associations in Lyon. We do not have a cost, but we encourage everyone to give a one-time donation per year to help pay for our Meetup costs (about 200 euros per year) and to buy coffee and keep prices low at Cafe Cultural Fusion, the International Cafe that is open on Tuesdays from 9h to 13h in Saxe Gambetta. Suggested donation for the year: 10 euros, but some give 1, 5, 10 or 20 euros depending on their own sense of how they use and value what is offered. Anyone can write "sponsor" and someone who has given extra will cover your donation. Please let us know if you have any questions!
