Trail Clearing Beech Bottom Trail (*this is a location update*)

Details
It has been awhile since we’ve worked Beech Bottom, and you’ll never guess, but we have many, many trees on the trail! Please meet CDTV at the Beech Bottom Trailhead, at 9:00 am on July 12, 2025, where we’ll head down the trail to tackle trees and limbs on the trail with cross-cut and hand saws, along with loppers. Beech Bottom still has a decent canopy to help us avoid that summer heat, to a degree. Plan on up to 4 or 5 miles of moderate hiking. Email Robert at RAEhiker@gmail.com if you have any questions or want to meet outside of the wilderness and carpool / caravan.
What to Bring:
• Enough food and water for the day, including a light lunch and a backpack to carry your supplies/food
• Work gloves and a safety whistle
• Sturdy boots and appropriate clothing layers are required for the task at hand (long pants are required; long-sleeve shirts recommended given the potential for thorns or other natural hazards)
• Food, snacks or soft drinks to share with the group for our post-work tailgate back at the trailhead parking area – and a lawn chair if you would like, for relaxing!
Other trail-clearing tools & safety gear such as hard hats & protective eyewear will be
provided.
Directions to the Beech Bottom Trailhead:
· From Chatsworth, GA, travel north on US 411 North to Cisco, GA. Cisco is 12.3 miles past the Hardee’s in Chatsworth on US 411.
· Turn right at Cisco Baptist Church (across from Sinclair Gas Station) onto Old GA Hwy 2. Drive 9 miles to Jack’s River Bridge at the TN state line.
· Cross the bridge, turn right and go about 1.2 miles.
· Turn a hard right onto Forest Road 62 (Big Frog Loop Road) – go about 4.7 miles to the trailhead parking on the left – note that this road is a bit rough in spots, so take your time.
If you plan to join us, please RSVP on Meetup or with Robert Edmondson – raehiker@gmail.com so that we can plan accordingly!
Please note that CDTV events are a family- friendly, alcohol, and drug-free setting.
