Coon Hill
Details
All are welcome. This is a great place to learn if you are new to the sport. Avi-gear is required (beacon, shovel, probe). No one skis alone. We will stay on the 25 degree or lower areas and not venture in to the higher avalanche prone spots above. There should be a good base by then.
I strongly suggest that you arrive by 7a. Any later, and you are likely to be stuck in traffic at the tunnel. Beacon check and chat at 7:15, begin skinning up at 7:30.
Parking is in the lot immediately on your right as you pass through the Eisenhower tunnel going west.
Please bring a radio if you have one (not required). We will set it to Channel 20 and Interference Eliminator Code 54. There is good cell service at Coon Hill.
We will meet afterward in Idaho Springs at the Main Street Restaurant for brunch. Either sit down or order burritos to go.
