Short but Sweet Series! (2 - 5 miles) [Trout Farm, Felton]
Details
I will be doing a flurry of shorter hikes, while nursing my knee back to health. I might even wear the dreaded knee brace! (But, probably not.)
This is a great short hike, especially if you live in the San Lorenzo Valley and want to know the secret nooks and crannies. It is also great if you want to try out the Trout Farm's Happy Hour menu and then work it off by hiking straight from the front door. We will explore a newly cleaned-up trail.
Route: 3 miles, 570' TEG (Total elevation gain)

Details: Hike the freshly cleared trail in the Olympia Watershed, across the street. There is a very short loop near the Fire Station, for people wanting a stroll but not a hike, and return on your own to the Trout Farm. Most of us will continue up a steep trail through redwoods and mixed forest. There is one viewpoint that looks into the neighboring valley, but the main attraction is beautiful forest, fresh with rain, across from a hip restaurant/bar/swimming pool ($25/hot Fall day).
Website: Trout Farm. (Happy Hour menu: see photos on this page).
Timing:
1:00pm — You are welcome to join our writing marathon at 1pm. RSVP here or tell Peter and come as a guest. You can work on any project that requires quiet focus.

5:00pm — Hike departs from in front of the Trout Farm
6:30pm -- Back to Trout Farm at dusk
Carpool — Free parking on either side of the road, but carpool with a friend if it is convenient.
