Contemporary Art, Contemporary Conversations at Gertrude Glasshouse

Details
This iteration of CA/CC will be held at Gertrude Glasshouse in Collingwood.
This month we are visiting Empty Pockets, curated by Sineenart Meena, who presents this exhibition as Gertrude Contemporary's 2022 Emerging Curator Program.
The exhibition features work by artists Kay Abude, Kirtika Kain, James Nguyen and Linda Sok. Their work is united her by their reference to the history of migrant labour in Australia:
"in Empty Pockets, artists with migrant backgrounds living in Australia, come together to contest hierarchical power, developing a conversation around how their works intertwine with histories of labour... the artists' work is revisited through a new dialogue connecting personal experiences with a broader conversation and questions on labour, particularly within the art industry'. (from Gertrude Contemporary website).
Please join me at midday at the gallery, two of these artists are personal acquaintances of mine, and I am so interested to see how their work and thinking have developed since I last saw them. I've never been to glasshouse before and am also excited to be checking out a space that is new to me.
There is going to be so much to look at, consider, understand and communicate between us - so I truly look forward to seeing you all there at 44 Glasshouse Road, Collingwood. Join us afterwards for a cup of tea someplace close by.
