What we’re about
A group of women who gather together to talk about books, to learn, love, and support each other. This group is for women 21 and older who love to read and discuss books. We meet on the 1st Wednesday of every month to discuss a book that we've read! We have a home base called the Book Haven located in Coral Springs, however, we sometimes switch it up and can meet anywhere from Starbucks, libraries, parks and beaches! We will read anything from Action and Adventure, Historical Fiction, Romance, Classics, Fantasy, Biographies and Memoirs etc... Looking forward to meeting some fun women readers!

Modern Calligraphy & Place Cards for Beginners

Join us at Uncommon Path Brewing in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for an evening of pretty lettering! Whether you’re a stationery nerd, DIY Bride-to-be, or just a crafty individual, you’ll be introduced to modern calligraphy with a pointed dip pen and ink in this workshop. We will cover all the basics and prepare you to add those unique lettered details to your snail mail, wedding paper goods, home decor, and more!
Class includes 90 minutes of instruction and demonstration, our Beginner’s Calligraphy Kit (a straight pen holder, two different nibs, black ink, two letter guides, and tracing paper), plus a bonus “Paper Bar” with themed paper. For the last 15 minutes of class, we will practice on a paper place card without tracing. Everything is yours to keep at the end of the workshop!

Class will start promptly at 7:00 PM, though feel free to come 30 minutes early to find parking, grab your seat, and purchase your food and drinks at the bar. Food and drinks are also available to purchase during and after the class, too! Parking is free and easy to find.
Class Expectations: Yes, lefties are welcome too! This class is encouraged for someone who has never taken a calligraphy class before. We teach the basics, and our expectation for you is to have ink flowing through your nib to be able to practice with enough confidence for the following classes and beyond! We love using tracing paper with our guides to help you build muscle memory and develop your own style of letterforms! If you have tried calligraphy out before, this class will be a great refresher and hopefully a chance to try some new supplies from our beginner kit that will re-introduce you to this lovely form of art!
A note on bringing guests aged 16 and under: We love to share this passion with kids. You are welcome to get a ticket for your child if you are comfortable with people around them having a drink or two. We ask that a ticketed adult accompany anyone under the age of 16 at all times.
