Spaziergang zum Mehlinger Heide

As the weather slowly improves, we are going on a refreshing walk to the Mehlinger Heide, taking in the nature reserve and potentially visiting the Mehlinger Flammkuchenhütte or Dampfnudelhof for refreshment.

The walk (15km, 200m ascent) starts from Eselsfürth, which is easily reachable by bus or car from Kaiserslautern. We meet at the bus stop outside the Irish House pub, setting off at 9am. The clockwise loop follows the river and traverses the Mehlinger Heide (a heath and nature reserve), taking in views of the surrounding countryside and visiting the hidden Jewish Cemetery. We pass the edge of Mehlingen, where there are venues offering local specialities including Dampfnudel or Flammkuchen. Finally, we return to Eselsfürth (aiming for the 104 bus at 13:54) or otherwise attendees make their own way home.

All are welcome. Sensible outdoor clothing and walking shoes are recommended.
