Lessons learnt from using Vertical Slice architecture
People tend to sing the praises of doing something differently (or a new way) in technology, but rarely discuss the shortcomings fairly. We recently built an API and frontend product with a client using Vertical Slices. This talk will share what worked well, what didn't, and anything in between.

The joys of supporting non-tech-savvy users
We've heard it before, the days of nerds being able to hide behind a computer and code without having to think about the end user are long gone! Most of us have had fun experiences when supporting "non-tech-savvy" users (as I've found they often like to refer to themselves). During my 10 minutes on stage, I will be entertaining the audience with examples of fun support experiences I've been through, tips on how to avoid such issues, and general advice on building a platform that is both complex and simple at the same time. It IS possible to find a balance, I promise you! This talk will be a shorter version of a longer form that I plan to submit to NDC Melbourne - so all feedback will be welcomed and greatly appreciated, either at the event or get in touch with me after via Twitter :)
The evening will be hosted by the DDD Melbourne crew.
