DEF CON 610 Monthly Meetup - Sudo, SUID, and Systemd: Intro To Linux Privesc
Details
Welcome to DEF CON 610!
Please join us the First Wednesday of the month at The Vault Brewing in Easton!
This month, our speaker Aero will present "Sudo, SUID, and Systemd: Introduction to Linux Privilege Escalation Tactics"
Linux and its numerous flavors is far and away still the most common OS making up the backbone of the technological age from cloud servers, to web apps, to your office coffee machine. As security has evolved, rooting your first Linux machine is often not as simple as guessing the default root password (or at least we pretend that isn't still a problem). Most of the time you will find your 'initial foothold' is a lowly service account. This workshop will go over some tried and true tactics for escalating your privileges from the limited service account, to the all powerful root account. A basic understanding of the Linux file system will be very helpful but this workshop will be designed for all levels of understanding to be engaged. All you need is a device with internet access!
