This is a great training ride in a gorgeous, quiet and safe area for biking, with NO CARS. (Weaving around walkers improves your bike handling skills) We start at the Cherry Creek Res Dam, head south through the park, down the Cherry Creek Trail, to our rest stop at the lovely Cobblestone Park in Parker, turn around, now going East around the Park. The route is slight uphill heading south, then a wonder slight downhill head back to our point of beginning. The down bubble for the second half makes this longer ride much easier, but we still get lots of "time in the saddle."
WHAT KIND OF RIDE IS THIS? This is NOT the typical DBTC ride. This is a light endurance ride that is harder due to the time in your saddle. The ride is spirited BUT NOT A RACE. Rest and water stops as needed. The beauty of the area and lack of bicyclist-killing, distracted and drunken drivers makes this both a wonderful work out and memorable.
This ride is appropriate ONLY for road and gravel, analog and road and gravel e-bikes. Not appropriate for mountain, cruiser, commuter, upright e-bikes. If you have not comfortably ridden (and enjoyed) 30 mile rides, this ride is not for you. I am not trying to scare people away - I want you to accurately know what expect.
This ride is WEATHER dependent - You need to sign up on Meetup to attend. That way, I can easily contact you if issues come up.
Bring lots of water and nibbles for turn around rest stop. We cannot assume any water stops are turn on. I am checking with Town of Parker on the status of Cobblestone's bathrooms and water. Please text or call with questions. IF THIS MAY BE YOUR FIRST DBTC RIDE, WELCOME, BUT PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE THE RIDE.
Here is the Ride With GPS Route. It is uploaded to the DBTC RWPS library.
