In the world of software development supporting other languages is often a neglected and misunderstood a practise, despite the increasing globalisation of software. In this talk Tristan will teach you some of the basics of Unicode, understanding how characters are encoded, and how you might be making some critical mistakes that impact how your software works in other languages. He'll talk about character encoding, string splitting and how you can deal with user input in any language easily and accurately.

ABOUT TRISTAN

Tristan started in the industry as a web developer before joining SafetyCulture as employee number three. Tristan has worked on several generations of successful cloud products, maintains various open source libraries and now develops cellular solutions with RANlytics, programming everything from microcontrollers to distributed cloud systems.
