The flickering gaslight of the Adventurer's Guild hall casts long, dancing shadows across the worn wooden tables. The air is thick with the scent of stale ale, old parchment, and a faint, metallic tang that speaks of recent battles. Around you, other adventurers, a motley collection of grizzled veterans and eager newcomers, share tales of daring deeds and narrow escapes. You are all members of the Wardens of the Veil, a guild specifically dedicated to protecting the realm from threats that spill forth from the myriad other planes of existence. For generations, your order has stood as the first, and often only, line of defense against aberrant horrors, mischievous fey, infernal incursions, and the chilling whispers of the Far Realm. A booming voice cuts through the din. "Alright, listen up, you lot! Got a fresh batch of contracts on the board!" Guildmaster Borin Stonehand, a dwarf with a beard like braided steel and an eye patch covering a scar that hints at a planar encounter gone wrong, gestures towards a large oak board covered in pinned parchments. "Looks like a busy week," he grunts, scanning the requests.***
