Abstract
Pancreatic cancer has the worst prognosis among major cancer types, primarily due to late diagnosis on contrast-enhanced CT. Artificial intelligence (AI) can improve diagnostic performance, but lacks clinical translation. In this talk, we will discuss the main recent developments in pancreatic cancer detection AI and how we can forge a path towards clinical implementation and improved patient outcomes.Meeting details:

AI for Pancreatic Cancer DetectionAbout the speaker
Natália Alves is a PhD candidate at the Diagnostic Image Analysis group working on the PANCAIM project: machine learning for pancreatic cancer across pathology, radiology, and genetics, where she focuses on deep learning in radiology applications under the supervision of Henkjan Huisman. In 2020, she obtained her Integrated Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Coimbra in Portugal, with a specialization in Medical Imaging and Radiation. Her past affiliations also include the Portuguese Institute of Oncology, the University of Heidelberg (Germany), and the Portuguese Institute of Oncology in Coimbra (Portugal).
