Diamond Way Buddhism is a worldwide network for lay people from all walks of life, who incorporate Buddhist practice in their daily lives.

Diamond Way Buddhism belongs to the thousand-year-old [Karma Kagyu lineage](https://www.diamondway-buddhism.org/diamond-way/karma-kagyu-lineage/) of Tibetan Buddhism. [Lama Ole Nydahl](https://www.diamondway-buddhism.org/buddhist-teachers/lama-ole-nydahl/), a Western Buddhist master born in Denmark, established Diamond Way Buddhism in the 1970’s, together with his wife Hannah Nydahl.

Their main teacher, the [16th Karmapa](https://www.diamondway-buddhism.org/buddhist-teachers/hh-16th-karmapa/), asked them to teach what they had learned and to start Buddhist centers in the West.

More than 50 years later, there are now around 600 Diamond Way [Buddhist centers](https://www.diamondway-buddhism.org/diamondway-buddhist-centers/) and groups around the world. The meditation methods that you can learn in these centers are all traditional Buddhist teachings, but presented in a modern, Western setting and language, accessible to all.

The name “Diamond Way” is a translation of the Sanskrit word Vajrayana. Vajrayana is considered to be the most direct of the three levels of [Buddha’s teachings](https://www.diamondway-buddhism.org/buddhism/buddhas-teachings). It is part of all the “old schools” of Tibetan Buddhism, and can also be found in other parts of the world.

This lecture focuses on the History of Lamas from the Karma Kagyu tradition, all the way up to our most recent teachers.

Our regular program:

**Welcome!**

Please join us on Mondays and Wednesdays for teachings and guided meditation at the Diamond Way Buddhist Centre in Perth. The guided meditation runs for a maximum of 30 minutes. If you are new, one of our friendly members will provide a brief overview of who we are and what we do, prior to the meditation.

Our program is suitable for beginners and there is plenty of time for questions.

Lots of free parking; meditation cushions and mats are provided. The regular program is free of charge.

Please make allowance for a maximum of 90 minutes for the whole evening (times will vary depending on the day).
