This event is a guided tour by Reflections of Manatee staff. The tour will include 3 historic homes of the Curry family, two of which were built circa 1860, which is older than any structure in Sarasota County. There also will be artifacts on exhibit from Angola, which was an escaped slave community on the Manatee River in the early part of the 19th century and information about the Southern Underground Railroad. The archaeologist who participated in the excavaion of Angola will discuss he unearthing of the runaway slave settlement.Check the website at ReflectionsofManatee.org for more info. There is a $10 fee for the tour, paid in cash when you arrive and the limit is 30 people. The staff will divide us into two or three groups (depending on how many people sign up) when we arrive. Seasonal Policy: If you sign up for this group, then decide that you can't attend, you must change your RSVP 36 hours before the event or it'll be counnted as a No Show.
