This walk will cover about 1.5 miles and will start at the public bathrooms with a short history of the area,then we walk to Big Pass, walk to the Gulf, then head into the wooded area of South Lido. It will combine history of the area along with beach science.

Some of the topics covered will be seashell and seagrass identification, issues with Big Pass, erosion and beach re-nourishment, the health of our bays, red tide, plant and animal identification.

If you haven't been out here since the storms of 2024, you might be surprised at the changes.

BRING: water, sunscreen, bug repellent and wear clothes that you don't mind getting wet.

WARNING: South Lido Beach and Park is at the southern end of Ben Franklin Dr. Some GPS' may direct you to Ted Sperling Nature Preserve on Taft Ave. You don't want to go there.
