Community Update - Margery Tongway
Marge's community update will share some of the details from DrupalSouth 2023 in Wellington, including the first ever DrupalSouth Splash Awards which were a huge success.

If you missed Wellington this will be a great recap of all the highlights and will also include some updates on upcoming DrupalSouth events, including a very special event planned for Canberra.

First Presentation - Drupal Local Dev Survey Results - Mike Richardson
Mike's going to share his presentation from Wellington, analysing the results of the 2023 Drupal Local Development Survey which had responses from over 800 Drupal devs all over the world.

In this talk, we'll see which tools and processes are the most popular, what sort of teams we work in, what trends we can see compared to previous years, and much more.

Second Presentation - Windows Sub-system for Linux (WSL) and Lando tips and tricks - Josh Graham
We use Docker containers for local development. When stuck on windows, how does Windows Sub-system for Linux speed up development? Lando is a docker wrapper, used especially for regular Drupal projects, what are some tricks that Josh uses?

- Why use Docker with WSL instead of Docker with Hyper-V ?
- Why store Drupal projects files in WSL, instead of the on the windows file system? (hint: performance gains)
- My own performance benchmarks of Docker Hyper-V vs Docker WSL.
- When is Docker Hyper-V useful instead?
- How to edit files easily in WSL.
- Some Lando tricks including, How to have Docker and Lando and show database SQL file import progress (The command ‘lando db-import’ doesn’t always show it) and change document root
- How to integrate Lando projects with the pygmy reverse proxy (used by GovCMS projects for local development)
- How to run Xdebug for WSL docker Drupal projects.

This meetup will be hosted by the Synergy Group, Ground Floor/15 National Circuit, Barton. Parking available behind the Synergy building off Darling street, or a short walk away off Brisbane ave or Blackall street.
