See all- Halde Norddeutschland~Halde Norddeutschland , Neukirchen-Vluyn
Join us for an inspiring afternoon of street and landscape photography at Halde Norddeutschland, one of the most iconic landmarks in the Lower Rhine region. This former mining spoil heap has been transformed into a public park, offering unique architectural structures and sweeping views of the surrounding landscape.
We’ll meet at the parking area and walk together to the top of the hill, where the striking “Hallenhaus” sculpture and the dramatic “Himmelstreppe” (Sky Staircase) await. The Hallenhaus is a steel-framed structure that resembles an open house—a symbolic nod to the region’s industrial legacy—while the Himmelstreppe’s 359 steps offer a bold visual element for dynamic shots.
This location provides plenty of opportunities for architectural, landscape, and abstract photography. Whether you're interested in capturing form, texture, or human interaction with space, Halde Norddeutschland is a playground for visual exploration.
Please note:- The walk is moderately uphill. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
- Bring any camera gear you’d like—lenses, filters, even a tripod if you enjoy stability for framing your shots.
About the Location:
Halde Norddeutschland stands 102 meters high and was once a mining dump from the Niederberg coal mine, closed in 2001. Since then, it has evolved into a space for recreation and cultural events. Designed by the Dutch artist collective Observatorium, the Hallenhaus sculpture marks the summit, while the Sky Staircase offers an alternative scenic route with great photo perspectives.
