What we’re about
Welcome to East Bay Bike & Music! We're glad you're here. We bike around the Bay Area, often starting from the East Bay, and always starting at a transit station. We ride at an intermediate pace and we ride together. We usually incorporate a stop for food, drink and merriment.
Sometimes we listen to music on the ride and sometimes music magically materializes at the end. What kind of music, you ask? All over the map.
Speaking of maps, we occasionally veer slightly off the planned route to explore something of interest, because we are flexible and spontaneous like that. Or maybe the road was closed. In other words, expect the unexpected ;)
Members range from teens to folks in their 70s. We ride hybrid bikes, road bikes, recumbent bikes, ebikes, and more. Our meeting points are easily accessible, so you never have to have a car to join the fun. In fact, we strongly encourage participants to spare the air and take transit or bike to the ride.
We intentionally keep our rides on the smaller side for safety reasons, group manageability, and social cohesion. Organizers may manage the waitlist at our discretion as a way to achieve balance on the rides.
Keep an eye out for group announcements and don’t fret if you don't get in; we have plenty of events planned. If your plans change, be sure to update your RSVP in advance so someone on the waitlist can attend in your place. No shows are no bueno in our group.
Also, your friendly volunteer ride organizers are happy to cover the cost of using the Meetup platform, but we do welcome voluntary contributions. Just talk to one of the organizers. Thank you in advance!
One more thing: You must be fully vaccinated to participate.
We look forward to riding with you!

Iron Horse Trail - Pleasanton to Concord! (~25 miles) (Ride #112)
Dublin/Pleasanton Bart Station, 5801 Owens Dr, Pleasanton, CA, USHey Everybody!
Join us for our 6th bike ride on the Iron Horse Trail! Now with a BYO picnic lunch! Most of this route is on a separated paved trail that used to be a rail line, though there are many road crossings. This time, we will join the Contra Costa Canal Trail in Walnut Creek, which will bring us close to Concord BART. There is a short on-road segment to complete the ride.
NOTA BENE: this is a one-way ride, so we will not be returning to our starting point. For those who may need to return to the start, BART allows bicycles on the train, so you could ride BART back.
TIME: Meet at 9:59am at the Dublin/Pleasanton BART Station (the end of the line) (take any train that arrives before 10, and most EB folks will need to transfer!) Meet in the plaza across and to the left from the fare gates.
RIDE DISTANCE: ~25 miles
ELEVATION GAIN: ~200’ (very flat)
LISTED END TIME IS APPROXIMATE!!!!!!!BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH!!! We will stop to eat our own lunches at Civic Park in Walnut Creek, about 2/3 of the way through the ride.
We'll ride at a moderate pace and make brief stops to keep the group together. Please dress appropriately for the forecast and bring water as well as LUNCH!
Please only RSVP “Yes” if you plan to come. If you can’t make it, update your RSVP so any folks on the waitlist can participate. No shows = no bueno. 😀
