What we’re about
Welcome to our Eclectic Wine and Cheese Book Club Meetup!
Do you like the idea of being a part of a community of open-hearted people (who are very real and sometimes forget to read the book)?
Our book club started so we could connect with others who have an appreciation for books that are absurd, sublime, life-changing, side-splitting, exotic, erotic, terrifying, thoughtful, heart-pounding, and far flung. We also happen to blend our love for literature with a little wine and cheese during our meet ups!
Whether you are a connoisseur or a beginner, all levels of wine, cheese, and book enthusiasts are welcome to connect and have a great time together! Cheers to delightful tastings and enriching conversations!

Holiday Sip & Swap: A Literary Feast!
Kathy's House, 4913 Donovan Drive, Alexandria, VA, USWe invite you to an evening filled with holiday cheer, wine, cheese and lively conversation around Fannie Flagg's A Redbird Christmas and James Patterson / Tad Safran's The Twelve Topsy-Turvy, Very Messy Days of Christmas!
*Note: Please feel free to read either or both books!*
Please bring a wrapped book to swap. On the wrapping, write a short, intriguing blurb about the book without revealing the title. Guests will choose books based upon the blurb, an after everyone has picked, we'll unwrap and reveal titles!
A Redbird Christmas - Goodreads:
From the beloved author of Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe comes her latest New York Times bestseller--a new Yuletide classic about small-town America and larger-than-life wonders.
The Twelve Topsy, Turvy Very Messy Days of Christmas - Goodreads:
Move over, Dickens—America’s favorite storyteller has written a modern Christmas story for the ages.
Every year at Christmastime, Will and Ella Sullivan, and their father, Henry, come to a family agreement: Christmas is a holiday for other people.
At their brownstone in Harlem, stockings go unstuffed, tinsel unstrewn, gifts unbought, mistletoe unhung, chestnuts unroasted, carols unplayed, cookies uncooked, a tree un-visible, and guests uninvited.
Until guests start arriving anyway. In pairs and sixes, in sevens and tens—they keep coming. And they stay. For twelve long, hard, topsy-turvy, very messy days. That’s when the Sullivans discover that those moments in life that defy hope, expectation, or even imagination, might be the best gifts of all.
As always, please feel free to join even if you have not finished the book - no stress :-)
All attendees are asked to please bring one of the following:
- A bottle of wine
- Cheese and crackers or holiday themed food for a festive touch
- An alternate beverage or nosh of your choice
Host will provide glasses, wine opener, plates & napkins.
To enhance the opportunity for great conversation, we would like to keep the group small. Please feel free to sign-up to meet us along with up to 2 friends.
📚 Exciting Updates for 2026 Book Club! 📚

All suggestions will be added to a shared Google Sheet, which will include links to Goodreads and other pertinent information for each book.
