Can you hack it? Unbreakable Data Security (+ Hackathon) with Stav Morris
Details
Stav and the team from A Backbone Solutions join us this month to talk about their unique approach to data security. There will be hardware to play with too. Can you hack the 'unhackable'?
We'll start with a short introduction into the philosophies of “unhackable” and “unbreakable”, and relate that to existing technologies, Blockchain and our own tech. Reviewing the logical breakdown of data ownership, and how it is important to storage and access concepts. The audience will be encouraged to participate throughout the talk; we want it to be a Socratic-type lecture. After this discussion, the audience can then decide whether to talk about logic or application.
About Stav Morris & A Backbone Solutions
Operating since 1999, I have operated ‘abackbone’ as a solution design and application house. From helping novices to streamline and minimise their computing time to optimising small and medium businesses, with a focus on infrastructure.
Team Zero: Came together in 2008 and 2009 to create an optimised model for online credit card shopping. In 2011, the credit card product won a small prize as a “Diamond in the Rough” at the University of Adelaide eChallenge. We were a little ahead of our time, and that of the existing players in the financial industry, and existing security platforms, so we started designing our own platform in 2013. That small idea has snowballed into something which may just be unhackable*.
In 2015, we won a scholarship from American payments processor First Data, to visit the payments expo “Transact15” in San Francisco. There we learned that fraud was not the primary concern in the credit market in USA, and received first hand insight as to why large institutions move so slowly, how modern operators are banking the skills and ideas to overtake them in the near future. Most important is how customers perceive the market, and how that filters down into applied services.
In the months leading up to and the year and a bit since, we have been hitting Twitter hard, trying to keep one eye on the shape of things to come, with the other eye fixed firmly on the task at hand. What is currency? What is identity? Where is security? Where, what, who is the risk? What is the bank of the future? What is the customer of the future? How many services is this? How many operators?
