The Great Ocean Walk leads you from Cape Otway to the 12 Apostles, showcasing deserted beaches, towering cliffs, historic shipwrecks, and ancient forests. Encounter diverse wildlife and explore pristine river estuaries.
Don't want to walk every day? No problems simply relax and have a lie in, wander the beach instead...

The Great Ocean Walk, on Victoria's spectacular west coast, stretches 104 kms from the idyllic resort town of Apollo Bay, to within sight of the magnificent 12 Apostles. Weave through beautiful National Parks, walk deserted beaches and gaze over pristine marine sanctuaries. Step on and off the trail with convenience.
Graded as easy to moderate a stunning purpose-built walk 6 days, staying in lovely accommodation each night. Just walk with your day pack, rain jacket and lunch each day!
Rest day any day, relax and explore the beaches/towns along the Great Ocean Walk instead of walking every day! Minibus available but restrictions apply.

8th Nov Day 1: Apollo Bay to Shelly Beach (9km) 12 Midday…
Your adventure begins in Apollo Bay, where you'll meet your fellow walkers. A gentle introductory walk takes you from Apollo Bay, through the seaside suburb of Marengo (home to a fur seal colony), and along the foreshore into the Otway Forest. Your day concludes at Shelly Beach, where you'll settle into your minibus is waiting for your transfer to your accommodation.
9th Nov Day 2: Shelly Beach to Blanket Bay (14km)
Today, leave the coast behind and journey into the heart of the Great Otway National Park's towering mountain ash forests. These giants, some of Australia's tallest trees, create a truly awe-inspiring experience. The trail eventually descends to the secluded Blanket Bay, a historic landing point for supplies destined for Cape Otway Lightstation.
10th Nov Day 3: Blanket Bay to Cape Otway Lightstation (11km)
Return to the coast and follow the clifftops and forest paths to tranquil Parker Inlet. Keep an eye out for local wildlife like wallabies, echidnas, and colorful birds. Explore beautiful Crayfish Bay before arriving at the historic Cape Otway Lightstation, mainland Australia's oldest continuously operating lighthouse (built in 1848). Enjoy exploring the grounds and the panoramic views.
11th Nov Day 4: Cape Otway Lightstation to Castle Cove (17km)
Departing from the Lightstation, you'll pass the Cape Otway Cemetery and traverse the coastal path overlooking Station Beach. Wind through dramatic clifftops and sculpted sand dunes before descending to the Aire River estuary and wetlands. The lookout at Castle Cove provides stunning views, often showcasing surfers tackling the waves. Your accommodation awaits nearby.
12th Nov Day 5: Castle Cove to Milanesia Gate (15.5km)
Today's walk showcases diverse landscapes: clifftops, heathlands, forests, and beaches. A highlight is the extensive xanthorrhoea (grass tree) forest at Rotten Point, near Johanna Beach—a true gem of the Great Ocean Walk. From the beach, the trail ascends through peaceful forest to Milanesia Gate.
13th Nov Day 6: Milanesia Gate to The Gables (16.5km)
Discover the secluded beauty of Milanesia Beach. The trail then hugs the dramatic sea cliffs, passing Ryan's Den hiker's campsite (a perfect lunch spot), before continuing over Cape Volney to Moonlight Head. The majestic Twelve Apostles draw closer as you approach The Gables lookout, boasting some of mainland Australia's highest sea cliffs. (Meals: B, L, D)
14th Nov Day 7: The Gables to The Twelve Apostles (18km)
Your final day! From The Gables, the trail leads towards Wreck Beach. If the tide is right, descend to the beach to see the anchors of the Fiji and Marie Gabrielle. The undulating path through sandy sections and along the coast culminates at the iconic Twelve Apostles. Savor the breathtaking views before your journey home.
Leave 12 Apostles 2pm for our transfer back to Apollo Bay and your onward travels
Optional airport transfer at $35 per person per way from Mel/Avalon airports to Apollo Bay
Price is $1490 per person deposit required of $475 which is non-refundable, however you may find a replacement from the waitlist if one exists, fees may apply.
Fuel is by kitty keeping costs down, $50 collected on day 2 and probably enough for the whole trip, best thing about a kitty is flexibility and able to change itinerary subject to weather etc.
Inclusions: Good standard Motel accommodation throughout, minibus transport throughout, guide along each days walks.
Note: Accommodation is good standard motels with twin/triple share rooms separate beds and private bathroom throughout, also the itinerary is weather dependent, may change without notice, please be flexible.
