Study of Chapter 14:
## The Forces of Evolution - The Three Guna: Verses 16- 19
## Discussion Themes:
-
TRAINING GROUND OF MISERY: ‘Nothing else equals misery’ for provoking us to seek a better way to live our lives. Wise conduct can lift us to ‘purity and brilliance.’
-
HIGHER STATE OF EVOLUTION: ‘Today’s biology says that there is that higher state of evolution. This human being can go higher and higher in psychosocial evolution and achieve, finally, total fulfilment of life. That is the goal of evolution – fulfilment. ‘Are you fulfilled?’, nature asks you. You must be able to say, ‘Yes, I am’.’
-
WE ARE IMMORTAL: For those who long to prolong their physical life, who seek a type of immortality, the wise ones say we already are immortal, because there is a central part of us that is beyond the ‘changes of the body.’
We're a multicultural group of varying ages, including our Vedanta Society members and friends. We always welcome new faces and hear new perspectives.
