Please join me for Oscar winner Chloe Zhao's (Nomadland - Best Picture, The Rider) adaptation of Maggie O'Farrell's best selling fictionalized retelling of the marriage of William Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway, and the heartbreaking event that is postulated to have inspired his later tragedies.

We'll meet in the lobby at 12:15pm for the film at 1:00pm. Your ticket includes a whisky cocktail or mocktail. I recommend buying your ticket online early as other sessions have sold out.

1580 England. Impoverished Latin tutor William Shakespeare (Paul Mescal) meets free-spirited Agnes (Jessie Buckley), and the pair, captivated by one another, strike up a torrid affair that leads to marriage and three children. Yet as Will pursues a budding theater career in far-away London, Agnes anchors the domestic sphere alone. When tragedy strikes, the couple’s once-unshakable bond is tested, but their shared experience sets the stage for the creation of Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece, Hamlet.

Having premiered at Telluride before winning the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival, Hamnet immerses us in the fragile joys and shattering sorrows of family life in 16th-century Stratford.

Trailer.

"Zhao has found a way for the already talented Buckley and Mescal to pull their performances from the utter depths of their bones. The emotional release by these two actors is often arresting and akin to a dramatic faucet being unleashed on a wildfire." -- Gregory Ellwood, The Playlist.

"Hamnet is a towering work from Zhao and one of the best movies of 2025. It's an emotionally devastating but ultimately cathartic look at how art can bring us together, unite us in unexpected ways, and heal us in ways we might have once thought impossible." -- Ross Bonaime, Collider.
