Siligong Net Zero's aim is to bring together and provide the residents of the Illawarra with the information they need to thrive as we head into the biggest energy transformation our society has seen since the Industrial Revolution. Siligong Net Zero aims to meet quarterly.

Dr Aziz Ahmed from UpFabLab will be our lightning speaker - UpFabLab aims to deploy a net-zero manufacturing system that empowers everyday people to design and 3D print homewares from plastic waste. The initiative promotes sustainable infrastructure and generates significant socio-economic benefits.

Green Gravity is a Wollongong based energy storage developer. Their Gravitational Energy Storage System (GESS) technology has been developed utilising heavy objects moving vertically through legacy mineshafts to exchange electrical and gravitational potential energy. As heavy weighted objects are raised through the mineshaft, energy is consumed to run the winder and motors, converting electrical energy into gravitational potential energy. When electrical energy is required, heavy weighted objects are lowered through the mineshaft, generating energy as the descending weight spins the winder and causes the regenerative motor to generate electricity.

The Gravitational Energy Storage System (GESS) is a mechanical technology with no capacity degradation, long asset life (30+ years), no waste or chemical handling and repurposes old mining assets for a productive future.

Green Gravity are applying machine learning with the in-parallel development of a Digital Twin, gathering data and demonstrating performance of elements of the GESS via a scaled test facility - The Gravity LabTM. The main purpose of The Gravity LabTM test facility and Digital Twin is to de-risk critical uncertainties within current design concept in a scaled / controlled operating environment and inform design enhancements that can be engineered back into refine modelling and optimise commercial scale solutions.
