Abstract: In this session I will go over the foundations of ML in the spatial domain. Unlike Text and image, spatial data has its challenges - the lack of datasets, the lack of benchmarking and the lack of common use cases have led to a very underdeveloped ML field where there is no clear architectural consensus nor any widely accepted foundation model, and very poor off the shelf support. Neara doing spatial ML at scale has to innovate at many areas of the ML stack in both ML research and software and I'll go over how Neara approaches these problems and where we want to go in this domain.
