Australia's most anticipated kite festival returns to Bondi Beach on Sunday, 14 September!

  • Enjoy spectacular kite displays, stunning ocean views, and a world of delicious cultural food and entertainment.
  • Watch incredible shows by the country's finest kite makers and flyers from the Australian Kite Flying Society (AKFS).
  • The iconic Bondi Pavilion will host cultural showcases, continuing the tradition of the original 1978 Festival of the Winds.

Join us for a perfect Sunday in Sydney! We’ll embark on a scenic hike along the world-famous Coogee to Bondi coastal trail, ending at Bondi Beach just in time for Australia’s most vibrant outdoor event—the Festival of the Winds. This is a great opportunity to enjoy nature, light exercise, culture, and socializing all in one day!

  • Meeting Point: Near the south gate of Coogee Pavilion Ground Floor (Call 0421866810 if you get lost.)

We’ll follow the stunning coastline from Coogee to Bondi, passing:
Gordons Bay
Clovelly Beach
Bronte Beach
Tamarama Beach
Perfect spots for photos and taking in the views!

Festival of the Winds:
Once we reach Bondi, enjoy the festival. We can:

  • Watch spectacular kite displays by professional flyers
  • Try delicious international foods from festival stalls (own expense)
  • Enjoy cultural performances at the Bondi Pavilion
  • Join a kite-making workshop or browse market stalls
  • Relax on the grass, socialize, and enjoy the festive atmosphere

Wrap-up:
No formal end time. Feel free to stay at the festival or leave whenever you like.
