Peace Is Every Step: The Path of Mindfulness in Everyday Life

Details

Is Peace Possible?

In the event, we will read texts on Zen Buddhism, explore the practice of mindfulness, and introspect on how mindfulness can be applied to bring peace to our daily life.

We will read the book Peace Is Every Step: The Path of Mindfulness in Everyday Life by Thich Nhat Hanh.

Learn how to use ancient Buddhist teachings to solve modern problems.

PEACE IN EVERY STEP contains commentaries and meditations, personal anecdotes and stories from Nhat Hanh's experiences as a peace activist, teacher, and community leader. It begins where the reader already is - in the kitchen, office driving a car, walking in a park - and shows how deep meditative presence is available now. It provides exercises to increase our awareness of our own body and mind through conscious breathing, which can bring immediate joy and peace. Nhat Hanh also shows how to be aware of relationships with others and of the world around us, its beauty and also its pollution and injustices. The simple practices of PEACE IN EVERY STEP encourage the reader to work for peace in the world as he or she continues to work on sustaining inner peace within themselves.

Facilitator
David has been interested in Buddhism since his 20s. He has been on a quest to understand the Buddha's teachings and how to apply the practices of meditation, mindfulness and simplicity to daily living. To practice a way of being: present, spontaneous and unattached. To realise one's true nature, beyond the concepts of self and non-dual nature.
