EUXCBR - March Meetup
Details
2026 is here and we are excited to announce our first speaker, Bille-Mae, Principal Consultant at Sol People, will be giving a talk on "Designing for people who’ve been let down before."
Systems fail people, and those failures don't go away. They shape how people show up to every interaction that follows. I'll share what it takes to design with people who carry that history: practical lessons on showing up with care, rethinking how we work, and making sure people walk away with something meaningful from the process. This talk is grounded in real stories from my work, particularly in disability and family violence. Most importantly, it's a conversation that I think is important to keep having as a design community.
Billie-Mae (Mae) is a human-centred designer who cares about making government services better for the people who depend on them. She's led teams across the public service and consulting on some of Australia's most complex services, including disability, family violence, aged care, health, education and cybersecurity, among others. She's particularly interested in the ethics of how we design and build things, building vibey teams, and embedding continuous discovery into everything. Mae is a Principal Consultant at Sol People.
As always, we will be in the Lab at the Canberra Innovation Network at Level 5, 1 Moore St. Networking, drinks and pizzas will start from 5:00 and talk will start at 5:30pm. Look forward to seeing you there!!
