"Pagan Concepts in First Century Christianity."
John Noack (Carl Jung Society) will present the topic and lead the discussion.
First-century Christianity, emerging from a Jewish context into the Greco-Roman world, encountered, clashed with, and in some cases absorbed elements of surrounding pagan (polytheistic and philosophical) cultures. While early Christians often viewed paganism as demon-inspired, a process of syncretism and contextualization allowed various cultural elements to be adapted. (AI)
