Habitat Restoration Volunteering @ Jawbone Flora and Fauna Reserve Williamstown

Details
Join me for an outdoor adventure at the Jawbone Flora and Fauna Reserve in Williamstown helping the Friends of Williamstown Wetlands with their habitat restoration work. The Friends of Williamstown Wetlands are a community group dedicated to protecting and maintaining this stunning wetland environment which is home to many seabirds and shorebirds.
Leaving from Williamstown Beach station we will walk through the local streets and then beside Williamstown Beach up to the Jawbone Flora and Fauna Reserve. Along the way we can chat and make new friends as we look out for birds such as pelicans, silver gulls and terns.
When we reach the Jawbone Arboretum we will meet up with the Friends of Williamstown Wetlands and the Parks Victoria organisers. We can learn about the local flora and fauna as we weed, plant, water and mulch together. We can also look out for birds such as black swans, ducks, grebes and cormorants swimming and hunting for food.
On our way back to Williamstown Beach Station we will stroll through the beautiful Williamstown Botanical Gardens.
It is recommended to bring along gloves, cold weather clothing and wear sturdy shoes.
The walking distance will be around 4km all up and we will be walking at a moderate pace.
