The Punchline with Sam Jay (TICKET PURCHASE REQUIRED)
Punchline Comedy Club at The Fillmore, 33 E. Laurel Street, Philadelphia, PA, USGet ready for an evening of sharp, provocative, and "tell-it-like-it-is" comedy! Our next Fabulous Philly Friends outing takes us to see the powerhouse Sam Jay. You may know her as a former writer for SNL or from her hit HBO series Pause with Sam Jay. She is a master of observational humor and isn't afraid to dive into complex topics with a perspective that is as hilarious as it is unique. This is going to be a high-energy night that will definitely spark some great conversations afterward!
Why You Should Join Us:
Sam Jay is one of the most exciting voices in comedy today. Her style is raw, honest, and incredibly relatable, making her a perfect match for our vibrant community of professionals. Punch Line Philly provides the perfect "big city" comedy club atmosphere—intimate enough to feel like you're part of the set, but lively enough to feel like a true event. What's The Plan?
We’ll be heading to Punch Line Philly to catch Sam's headlining set. Since the venue has a two-item minimum inside the showroom, we’ll be "sharing" the experience over some snacks and drinks. Whether you're a long-time fan or new to her work, this is a fantastic way to bond with fellow members over world-class entertainment. The Deets:
- Tickets: You must purchase your own ticket for this show. You can find them here: Sam Jay at Punch Line Philly (General Admission $35.25)
- Waitlist Policy: Members will remain on the waitlist until they message me or post in the comments to confirm their ticket has been purchased. Once confirmed, I will move you to "Going."
- Cost: Beyond your ticket, please plan for the venue's two-item food/drink minimum. Anticipate spending approximately $25–$40 at the club (plus tax and tip).
- When: Friday, March 13th, 2026. Doors usually open an hour before showtime (6:30 PM). I will arrive early and post the exact meeting place.
- Parking: Punch Line is located at 33 E. Laurel Street in Fishtown. There is a paid parking lot directly across from the venue, and limited street parking is available in the neighborhood. Rideshares are highly recommended so you can enjoy the "Martinis" during the show!

Elwood Weekend Tea Service
Elwood Restaurant, 1007 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA, USGet ready for a unique twist on a classic tradition! Our next adventure takes us to Elwood in Fishtown for their highly acclaimed Weekend Tea Service. Forget everything you know about standard finger sandwiches; Elwood specializes in Pennsylvania Dutch-inspired country cuisine. We’ll be enjoying heirloom recipes and native ingredients in an intimate, cozy dining room that feels just like being invited into a friend's beautiful rowhome.
Why You Should Join Us: Elwood offers a "country cuisine" version of afternoon tea that is truly one-of-a-kind in Philadelphia. Chef Adam Diltz focuses on local suppliers and historical flavors. Instead of the usual scones, imagine warm biscuits and datch (a PA Dutch quickbread) served with apple butter and clotted cream. From venison scrapple and chilled smoked trout to snickerdoodles and shoofly cake, this is a sophisticated yet rustic culinary experience that perfectly embodies the "rich tapestry of culture" our group loves.
What's the Plan?
We’ll be gathering to enjoy the full Tea Service, which includes a selection of sweet and savory bites paired with local teas from Oma Herbal Teas (grown right in Schwenksville, PA!). It’s a relaxed, refined way to spend a weekend afternoon while engaging in great conversation. You can see the full tea menu and the charming story behind the restaurant here: https://www.elwoodrestaurant.com/tea-service/The Deets:
- BYOB: Elwood is a BYOB! While tea is the star, feel free to bring a bottle of bubbles or a light white wine if you’d like to make it a boozy tea party.
- Cost: The tea service is $35 per person. Please anticipate the total cost to be approximately $45-$50 per person (including tax and a 20% tip). To keep things simple for the staff, please bring cash.
- Allergies: Because this is a set tasting menu involving specific PA Dutch recipes, please let me know about any allergies or dietary restrictions as soon as you RSVP so I can check with the chef.
- Important: Elwood is an intimate space with limited seating. I will send a confirmation message a few days prior to finalize our headcount. Please keep your RSVP updated so we don't leave a small local business with empty seats!
- Parking: Elwood is located at 1007 Frankford Avenue. Street parking in Fishtown can be tricky, so give yourself extra time or consider a ride-share. The restaurant is also a short walk from the Girard Station on the Market-Frankford Line.
I can’t wait to sip tea and share these unique PA Dutch treats with all of you!

World Food Tour: Nan Zhou Hand Drawn Noodle House (Chinese)
Nan Zhou Hand Drawn Noodle House, 1022 Race Street, Philadelphia, pa, USGet ready for a masterclass in the art of the noodle! Our next stop on the World Food Tour takes us to a true Philadelphia legend: Nan Zhou Hand Drawn Noodle House. If you haven’t experienced the theater of watching fresh dough being pulled, stretched, and snapped into perfect strands, you are in for a treat. We are diving deep into the heart of Chinatown for a meal that is as authentic as it is delicious.
Why You Should Join Us:
Nan Zhou is a Philly institution for a reason. They specialize in the traditional Lanzhou style of noodle making, where every bowl is crafted to order. Whether you prefer the springy "hand-drawn" thin noodles or the wider, toothsome "shaved" noodles, the texture is unlike anything you’ll find in a grocery store. It’s the perfect setting for our community of adventurous eaters to gather, slurp some incredible broth, and enjoy the high-energy atmosphere of one of the city’s most famous spots. What's the Plan?
We’ll be gathering at Nan Zhou to share a variety of their famous appetizers before diving into our own steaming bowls of noodle soup or stir-fry. This is a high-energy, bustling spot, so come ready for great food and even better conversation with your fellow Fabulous Philly Friends. You can check out their menu and see the noodle-making magic here: http://www.nanzhounoodlehouse.com/The Deets:
- BYOB: Feel free to bring your favorite wine or a few cold beers to pair with the savory, spicy flavors of Lanzhou!
- Cost: We will plan to order several shared appetizers for the table (the peanut noodles and dumplings are a must!) and then everyone can order their own entree. Please anticipate the total cost to be approximately $30–$40 per person (including tax and a 20% tip).
- Payment Note: IMPORTANT! Nan Zhou is Cash only. Please come prepared with cash to make splitting the bill at the end of the night quick and easy.
- Allergies: If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please let me know as soon as you RSVP so I can check with the kitchen.
- Important: I will send a confirmation message a day or two before our visit to finalize the headcount. If your plans change, please update your RSVP to "Not Going" promptly so someone from the waitlist can take your spot!
- Parking: Nan Zhou is located at 1022 Race Street. There are several paid parking lots nearby in Chinatown, but since we are right in the heart of the city, public transportation or ride-sharing is highly recommended.
Can’t wait to share a bowl (and a laugh) with all of you!
