I am happy to announce an outdoor event, a lovely hike near Lochearnhead. 🥾 😊
Easily reached by public transport from Stirling or Glasgow (if you need a lift from Callander to the start of the route please let me know)
📍We will meet at the car park.
What to expect:
Very much of walk of two contrasting halves, this circular route climbs up to the old railway line from Lochearnhead, following the line - now a cycle path - to head through Glen Ogle high above the floor of the glen. The return leg described is a total contrast - it is very boggy, overgrown in places and requires careful route finding, running close to the line of an old Military Road. If the rough going puts you off, you could return by the outward route.

You are responsible for deciding if this event is suitable for you, coming adequately prepared and looking after yourself on the walk. If there's any questions about suitability, please contact the organiser.
The Falkirk to Callander Social Walking Group recognises that hill walking, scrambling, and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
What you’ll need:
Hiking boots, waterprooves, some liquid, some packed snacks for our blood sugar and energy 😉
Terrain & Walking Stats:
A grade 2 walk on Walkhighlands, which I’d classify as relatively easy
Terrain – Excellent path on cycle track, one steep section climbing up to it, but the return route has been badly neglected; it is very boggy, overgrown in places and requires careful navigation.
Distance: approx. 10.5 km
Time: 3-4 hours walking time
Ascent: approx. 402m
Walked at a moderate pace as a group.
Last but not least – we make our decisions as a group, so if one person has to head back, we all do, please make sure that you do have the stamina and fitness to complete the whole walk!!!
RSVPs:
Yes – you intend to come and will turn up.
If you can’t make it, change your RSVP to NO to allow someone else to take your place.
We are looking forward to seeing you all 😊
Hopefully, there will be some new faces joining us as well as old acquaintances for a blast of exercise and great conversations. ⛰🥾
