Silent Movie: Love, Luck, and Laughter: A Buster Keaton Double Feature
Details
What the best way to end Valentines Day weekend, single or not? Laughing at “love” and all those other silly notions.
And, if you’re looking for a comic genius who can leaving you rolling on the floor without saying a word—that would be Buster Keaton.
The Washington Center for the Performing Arts has booked a double-feature of Keaton silent movies for Sunday, Feb. 15: Seven Chances and The Three Ages (both released in 1925. I have not seen either, but this is how the Washington Center describes them:
In Seven Chances, A man learns that he will inherit a fortune if he marries by 7PM that evening.

The Three Ages shares love and romance through three historical ages: the Stone Age, the Roman Age, and the Modern Age.

Tickets are $18-$20 (with unfortunately, a hefty $6 fee if you buy them online). Currently there are plenty of seats available on either side of the theater and a few around the middle section. The good news is that all the remaining seats should still be pretty good. I’ve purchased my ticket AAA107 (last row, but dead center).
I do not know if this show, like Dirty Dancing, will sell out, but, if you are serious about going, getting your tickets earlier rather than later sounds like a good idea.
Also, once a few people have RSVP’d I’ll reach out and see about arranging a pre-movie coffee somewhere—like the new Drip Espresso Bar on Capitol Way South—around 1 p.m. The movie should let out right around cocktail hour so a post-movie someplace sounds like a lovely possibility if anyone is interested.
